JOSH FEST 2011!!

Dear Friend of JoshFest,

JoshFest, a celebration of the life of Josh Johnson who passed away on January 18, 1999, will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2011. The activities will begin at 8:00 a.m. and run until 5:00 p.m. at Texas A & M University intramural fields, in Kingsville, Texas. This year's JoshFest will be sponsored by the fraternities, sororities, and many of the clubs and organizations at TAMUK. A day of fun and festivities is planned for the entire Kingsville Community. The festivities include tournaments for basketball, volleyball, dodge ball, horseshoes, and seven-on-seven football. Also included are a silent auction, 5K run/walk, children's games including a live catch and release fish tank, and a variety of booths with activities for all age groups. All proceeds will be used as college scholarships for high school graduates. Over seventy students have received more than $100,000 since the scholarship has been offered.

In addition to several changes this year, the scholarship committee has decided that applicants for the Josh Johnson Memorial scholarship will now be accepted for HM King, Riviera, Academy, and Bishop. The athletic scholarship will be awarded to a graduate of HM King.

In addition to the April 9th event, Lambda Chi Alpha will be sponsoring a Chili Cook Off with proceeds benefiting the Josh Johnson scholarship fund on Saturday, March 26. If you would like to participate or need more information, please contact Walter Faught at 281- 883- 8533.

We are asking for your help in any way, whether it is a monetary donation, an item of value or service to be auctioned off or used as a prize, or your participation in a booth or activity. School organizations as well as other organizations are encouraged to participate in JoshFest. When sponsoring a booth or activity, your organization keeps 50% of the profits and donates the other 50% to the scholarship fund.
